Vonlanthen out. Yakin steps in.

May 24th, 2006 | By: Ralph | No Comments »

It seems like the Swiss team is having it’s first injury case. Striker Johan Vonlanthen injured himself in a fitness test and will only be able to recover until the semi-finals. As Vonlanthen is no Rooney (skillwise) and has no magical injury recovery skills, Swiss coach Kuhn already put replacement Hakan Yakin on high alert. Yakin might join the team in about two days.

ps: The funny thing is, when Kuhn explained why he didn’t choose Yakin in the first place he mentioned something of Yakin’s “special character”. Let’s hope, that in the meantime Yakin underwent some major character reeducation and that he’s not bringing turmoil to the Swiss team.
