Switzerland beats China 4-1

Alex Frei scores the 1-0

Switzerland played the last test match yesterday against China and got more or less what they wanted from the opponent: a chance to score some goals.

Over all, it was not THE convincing show, the Swiss offered to the spectators in Zurich. Especially the first half was rather lame. The few good chances were all missed and the Chinese even had a good chance at taking the lead. It wasn’t till the 40th minute until Alex Frei broke the spell by realising his 25th goal in the Swiss jersey. Afterwards it was more or less smooth sailing.

Analysing this last game, we have to admit that our defense didn’t look too great against a more than mediocre Chinese offence. But then, an already bruised Mueller was playing and Senderos was on the bench. The good thing about this game was, that each of our strikers scored two goals (even though one Frei goal was a penalty and one Streller goal was a hand goal). This will give them confidence - especially Alex Frei who has been injured for most of the season.

And I reckon, that was the whole purpose of the game.

Now, it’s about recovering from 3 games in 8 days. Getting everybody fit, so that we can upset the French on the 14th in Stuttgart!

Allez les Suisse. Hopp Schwiiz. Sforza Svizzera.

Why did we have to play against dummies for preparation? China sucks so bad! Next time we should play Tadjikistan and Nepal as well…
