Robert, are you out there?
Sorry this took a while(see reader post on the right.). But I finally got the answer to your questions for chants!
Swiss german fans chant: HOPP SCHWIIZ!!!
Swiss french: ALLEZ LA SUISSE !!!
Italian: FORZA SVIZZERA!!!
If there is a goal we (all 3 languages) scream: GOOOOOOOOOL! Sometimes the
french go: ET BUT!!! (But=score)There are plenty of songs that are used. Those songs have the same sound all over soccer stadiums in the world, depending on the country the words are different. Here is one used in Switzerland: “waer nid gumpet isch ke Schwiizer – hoi!! – hoi!! – Waer nid gumpet isch ke Schwiizer – hoi!! – hoi!!…” Meaning that those folks in the stadium not jumping up and down are not swiss fans (the fans chanting are jumping up and down at the same time in the rythm of the song). Another one in the german part is sung in high german: “Steht auf wenn ihr Schweizer seit, steht auf wenn ihr Schweizer seit…” and so on in changing tones, meaning that if you are swiss you have to get get up. Those singing are getting up and clap their hands rhytmically, just like a standing standing ovation with singing and clapping. This one is similar tho the first one. Both are great when everybody does it, goosebump-time! The hardcore songs I usually dont sing or dont know because either those songs are primitiv or I dont understand them.
Thanks again to Stefan, he has been a great ambassador for us Americans wanting to learn.
