Most open game of the finals so far

Acrobatic effort by Hakan Yakin

There seems to be a general ‘agreement’ here, that the games involving Switzerland are boring. I’m glad to see that at least somebody is actually WATCHING the game and has enough understanding of football to understand it. After the Switzerland - Togo game Roy Hodgson said:

This was clearly one of the most open games of the finals so far. There was a lot of space in the midfield and that led to many counterattacks and numerous goal chances. This was the busiest game for the goalkeepers that I have seen so far at these finals and as a result it was a pretty exciting affair.

Thanks Roy!

Hehe. I’m not worried. If you look up the Big Question thread ‘Who will come out without conceeding a goal’ (or something to that matter), I said Switzerland. And still stand to it (even though we’ve been lucky on a couple of occasions - but you can’t eliminate ALL chances). If we don’t conceed agains Korea - then we’re through. And after seeing them playing France: I’m not worried. They were fortunate in two occasions already - this will end on Friday! ;)

My prediction:
Switzerland - Korea 1-0
France - Togo 2-1

Switzerland and France in the next round!

I’d say Korea and the Swiss are in the next round. I woundn’t underestimate Togo or Korea, esp since Togo has no pressure to advance as it’s already been eliminated. Korea is a fighter as well and won’t easily concede a goal from the Swiss as both are fighting for the top position. Korea just needs a win. :)

Good luck though!

Oh, don’t get me wrong: at a World Cup every team can play football and will punish you, if you’re slacking. What I meant was more: if we play like against Togo + Senderos improves his performance, then it’ll be good.

Hehe, and obviously I don’t care whether it’s France or Korea - as long as we make it through. ;)

Well Hodgson is probably biased towards Switzerland a bit. ;-)

I was surprised to find that the swiss goal keeper has the most saves without conceding a goal (10)… this defense is hard to break.

Switzerland is a young and talented team but they will need a strong mental attitude for the match against Corea

Agree with comments so far, I think if we can play the game at our pace and get the ball in to Frei will do alot of damage. Looks like we will have a bit of Yakin creativity which might be helpful on those freekicks. Provided our guys don’t pick up any yellow cards like they did against togo we are good for top spot and I will be happy to see the French go home finally!!!

Julia: stop whinging - especially as a Korean, that is pretty rich. Learn the rules first. It’s great to support your country, but stay objective when it comes to the rules!

that was off-side for sure…
http://www.fifa.com/documents/fifa/laws/LOTG2006_e.pdf the offside rule in page 33 clearly defines it.
also… 2 handballs inside of penalty box… pretty incredible to ignore that kind of stuffs twice in the game. even Brazil or Argentina can’t win against this kind of team… lol

Speaking of the RULES, you seem to learn them after all.
Learning is painful but pays you off someday, boy~!
