Interviews and post-match thoughts
“Our EURO is not over yet!” Despite his own troubles and Frei’s injury Kuhn wants to encourage his team. “We have to recover to be ready wednesday against Turkey. Nothing is lost”.
“4 years ago Portugal lost the opening game becore qualifying for the final. It’s what I’ve told the players. I congratulated them for their performance. We should have won it. But football is cruel sometimes”.
Losing Frei was a great shock for Kuhn: “It’s terrible to lose the captain. I don’t know if he will be able to play the rest of the competition. He’s left for hospital. I’m afraid that something’s wrong with the inner ligaments”.
Chosen as Man of the Match, Tomas Ujfalusi stated that his team waited for the right time even though they suffered the Swiss pressure. Karel Bruckner said: “The three points are priceless but I have to admit that we were far from playing well. I had Koller leave the pitch for one reason: we weren’t able to reach him. I took a good decision in letting Sverkos in”.

Hi Jan,
Naturally, I wanted the Czechs to win, but not THAT way. To keep thinking over the content of the match in depth, it makes me just skeptic - were we the one who deserved to win? Was told by my Dortmund buddies that Frei’s out of action for 6-8 weeks and it depresses me alot for BVB-wise. Sincerely hope he’ll make a quick recovery.

I know. I shouldn’t have wished you good luck, haha. You had way too much!
But that’s football. If we win against Turkey we still have a chance. I hope Kuhn will find the right words for the team.
Frei? Broke my heart. Trust me, I haven’t recovered yet. He deserved this Euro, he did everything he could to get back in shape for it. Bitterly unfair.
